Is it the words high intensity? Whatever it is, we trainers at Spartan continue to hear reasons why certain workouts or certain exercises aren’t for you. There is not a day that goes by that we don’t have someone try and change a workout that has been programmed, to fit into their wheelhouse. This blog is meant to help you get out of your own way.
80% of our life is based on our habits. Things we do without even thinking. The reason that the workouts at Spartan make you uncomfortable is because we have taken your habits and thrown them into a blender. A blender filled with new exercises, ideas, and ways to have our bodies move. We’ve stepped out of the normal path of fitness (because let’s face it, it really hasn’t been working long-term), and have thrown you into a world of uncertainty. If there’s an exercise that you don’t think you can do or don’t want to do, you fall into your old habits of doing what you’ve always done.
How about, for one month, you come into Spartan classes 100% open to whatever we have in store for you. No judgement. No thoughts of not being able to do something. No suggestion of what you’d like to change something to. Just come in like you’ve never done a workout before and be open to the journey. We will NOT steer you wrong. We know what we’re doing. We spend just about every minute of every day, thinking of ways we can help you be the strongest from the inside out as you’ve ever been. If we say 30 reps, do 30 reps. If you do 5 at a time and rest for 3 minutes before you do another 5, perfect. Just do 30. If we say burpees, do burpees. Get down on the ground and get back up. We don’t care if you hire someone to help you do this. Just do some damn burpees. If we’ve put box jumps on the schedule 3 out of 5 days, box jump your little hearts out. Let us be your trainers. Allow us to take you to places, physically and mentally, that you don’t even know exist yet.
One month. Come in. Trust the process. Do it even if you think you can’t. You might surprise yourself.
